Commercial Fire Suppression System Installed
Off-the-grid fire hydrant installed on location for commercial farm-based business.
This was a big job that brought a local farm-based business up to speed with a fire suppression system that protects assets and reduces insurance premium.
The project involved digging out and upgrading the water lines coupled to two underground storage tanks. If needed by the fire department, the tanks will supply a pumper truck. This type of commercial fire suppression is called a “dry hydrant” – water is passively stored below the frost to be drawn out on demand (hopefully never).
This job had many elements to it and a few challenges, so going to work each day was always interesting. I’ve done enough of these rural fire suppression jobs to call this one “routine,” but it was never dull or monotonous!
